Supervision & Mentorship Support - for Movement/Bodywork and other Therapeutic Professionals
Do you ever feel that you could use a little support in your business?
As my educational path has taken me into the world of coaching, and now psychotherapy, I have become really aware of the importance the support network that sits around therapists.
As a transformational practitioner I have regular 1:1 mentorship sessions, as well as group clinical supervision and circles to share personal challenges. And as a psychotherapist in training, I have committed to attending regular therapy sessions, and on graduation, supervision as a prerequisite of the profession.
I’ve discovered a network that supports and provides a place to explore potential difficulties, where I can keep on top of on my own stuff so it doesn’t come into client sessions. Clients may not realise there is a whole support structure behind the individual they are working with, safeguarding everyone within the process.
In the worlds of movement and many modalities of bodywork, there is no requirement for this. Yet we still hold space for, listen to and support our clients. I didn’t experience any education on how to navigate this in my trainings, and I hear this from people training in these fields today.
In movement trainings, we learn how to teach exercises and structure sessions, but not how to navigate personalities, emotions and behaviours. In bodywork we learn anatomy and techniques, but often not how to manage the energy and emotions that show up alongside injuries and pain. And then there’s the setting of strong professional boundaries.
Carrying all of that without support can take its toll – especially if we work alone.
As I listen to teachers and practitioners talking about the challenges, and remembering situations that happened to me during my career that could have been different, I wish there was more required professional support.
And I’ve realised that I sit in a perfect position to offer it.
I’ve worked for many years in these fields, and I have the skills to offer support.
So I am offering a supervision and mentorship service for anyone working in a field who holds space for clients, but isn’t required to have their own supervision.
- Ad-hoc sessions (online or in person) – where you can bring specific cases, situations or personal challenge to work through when you need support
- Regular monthly supervision (online or in person) – a regular session to check in, look at specific cases, and explore any issues professionally or personally that may keep coming up
It’s something that has transformed the way I approach my clients and my business – if you think it could help you too I’d love to hear from you.
